Bonfires in the Canyon

One of my favorite things about summer here in Utah--or anywhere really--is the bonfires! When the weather is warm, friends drive up the canyon and enjoy plenty of things like the stars, the company of friends, the smell of the smoky fire, and SMORES! I love smores and have ever since I was a little girl. There is just something about an ooey-gooey marshmallow smothered in melted chocolate, and then put between two graham crackers. {We tried some smores with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups...delicious. }

I absolutely love summer! It is my favorite season because people have care and stress-free attitudes, the sun shines down upon us day after day, vacations are common, and weddings happen. One of my best friends gets married in about two weeks and I am so beyond stoked for her! Happy summer weather! It's 83 degrees here today! :)

P.S. This last picture below is a picture of a reporter briefly interviewing Alex. It was so random: we were sitting up in Vivienne Park in Provo Canyon when, out of nowhere, came a reporter and his cameraman. Apparently, two men set up dangerous booby traps near a hiking trail, waiting for an unaware hiker to walk into them. They were so dangerous that it could and would have caused serious damage or death. Anyway, the reporter wanted some reactions from the general public and Alex and a couple other friends got chosen. Ha!

this past week.

matching leopard print! heck. yeah.

This past week, it was one of my dear friend Kelsey's birthday! We all went out to P.F. Changs and it was just delicious. I love that place. Have you ever had the Mongolian Beef? Im telling you, it is good. It was fun to see everyone--I miss them more and more as the months go on and everyone gets so busy. {Remember how my favorite Brookie Cookie is getting married in less than a month!!? She is one busy lady. Also, Kelsey leaves for her study abroad to London in about two weeks, so we won't be seeing her for a while so it was a good last hurrah before she's off to explore the city of fish and chips and terrible teeth! Just kidding. kinda.}

But, school is finally winding down, we are in the middle of finals, and my job responsibilities have really skyrocketed now that training is done and I'm on my own. I like it though. Bringing home some money has never felt so good haha! I can't wait for summer and all it has to bring--no school, tons of fun with friends, care-free attitudes, tan skin and blonde hair, oh and we got the "pass- of- all- passes", so if you ever want to find us, we'll probably be at the water park soaking up the sun! ;)

Just call me a workin' woman!

You are looking at Happy Sumo's newest waitress! That's right, I went on a job hunt a couple weeks ago, got hired by my first-choice restaurant, and started training last week. I. am. ecstatic.

Now I know most of you are probably thinking, "This girl is crazy. She is excited for a job!" Well here's the deal: I knew I was going to have to get a full time job this summer, which by the way I have never had before, and thought that I wanted to do CNA. So I signed up to take a class at the end of the school year and started applying for jobs for the summer. But, to my surprise, it was going to be a lot dirtier of a job than I thought--think drool, 80-year-old's poopy diapers, and bathing men that are four times your age. Yeah, I know. Gross. I just knew that I wouldn't be happy doing that--and working by myself most of the time--all summer long. So, I decided that waitressing or hostessing would be a pretty fun job--I love people, I love working with people that are my same age, and I love food. So I applied to Happy Sumo, got an interview, and then got the call that I would start working there the next week.

I started training on Thursday and it has been a lot of fun! Crazy hectic, but fun! My trainer is awesome--I love her and her funky fashion (she's got a short red and black bob--so cute!) and all of the other girls are just adorable! I have gotten to try a few of the dishes that I haven't had before and they are all delicious--Alex says everyone that likes sushi should be jealous of him because his wife brings home free gourmet sushi! haha

Happy Sumo will be a great place to work--it has a classy atmosphere, good unique food that reminds me of home, cool people, and it attracts non-Utah County folks--which is a good thing because Mormons aren't known for their tipping. Ha!

Just call me a workin' woman!!
